Rodney H. Hanscom
BETHEL - Rodney H. Hanscom, 60, of Bethel, died March 6, 2010 at his residence. He was born in Rumford on July 13, 1949, the son of Rodney Hartley Hanscom and Kathleen (Brooks) Hanscom and was educated in local schools. He had worked as a laborer at Chadbourne Lumber and later Hancock Lumber for over 43 years. He had been a volunteer with B.E.A.R.S for many years, had been active with the Boy Scouts as a leader for many years, enjoyed moose watching, fishing, camping and dancing. He was a member of the West Bethel Union Church and was Past Master of the Bethel Lodge A.F. & A.M. He was a former member of the I.O.O. F of Bethel and the Pleasant Valley Grange. Mr. Hanscom was a family man and adored his family and the time he spent with them. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Christine (Churchill) Hanscom of Bethel; one son, Ronald Hanscom of North Conway, NH; one daughter, Stephanie Bragdon and her husband Arthur of Bethel; two brothers, David Hanscom and his wife Sue of Mason Twp. and Brian Hanscom and his wife Wendy of Newry; one sister, Nancy Anderson and her husband Peter of Bethel; seven grandchildren, Denise Morse and her husband Chris of Bethel, SSgt Keith Walley and his wife Shawna of Ft. Stewart, GA, Matthew Bragdon, Mitchell Bragdon and Kaitlynn Bragdon all of Bethel and Tyler Hanscom and Abigail Hanscom both of Middleboro, MA and six great-grandchildren, Krysten Morse, Kaydence Morse, Kyeria Morse and Karyssa Morse, all of Bethel and Damian Walley and Tara Walley, both of Ft. Stewart, GA. Hours of visitation were held at the Greenleaf Funeral Home, 37 Vernon Street, Bethel on Wednesday evening, March 10. Funeral services will be held at the West Bethel Union Church on Thursday, March 11 at 2 p.m. with Rev. John Williams officiating. Spring burial will be in the Pine Grove Cemetery, West Bethel.
